By ROBERT WIEK – USMC VET
Reflect on names etched in cold stone,
For each one paid the ultimate price!
Can we who returned ever atone,
For failing to match their sacrifice?
Reflect on those never to grow old,
Silently screaming the hurt they bore!
That black walls embrace forever cold,
Eternally names the cost of that war!
Reflect on the scars we all carried back,
No warrior ever returns unscathed!
Though unsightly wounds some of us lack,
From nightmares of war no one is saved!
Reflect on our guilt that we survive,
Only thanks to them are we alive!
