The Henderson Service Office has been a Nevada Corporation since 15MAR22. We are not an American Legion Service Office; we are Post 40 members that volunteer. There is a team who work in the Service Office located in the Auxiliary Trailer at American Legion Post 40. We have been helping All Veterans and their Dependents since OCT 2015 under various other names. We are not tied to any organization or the Veterans Administration however, we serve Veterans and their Dependents.

Appointments

The Service Office is open on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 9 am to 1 pm. Appointments are not required, but best if you do however Friday is by appointment ONLY. To make an appointment text Richard Keirn at 702-419-6869.

MISSION STATEMENT

To serve Veterans and or their Dependents with guidance on their VA issues, and the review of their VA documents and VA letters. To assist them in ordering their military records. Review their DD-214 Discharge document and correct any mistakes and missing awards. To assist those with other than Honorable Discharges in the upgrade of them. To operate a full time Service Office in support of all veterans and their organizations. Support the local elementary schools with our flag education program as well as the veterans at Nevada State College.

Richard is the Senior Service Officer for the Henderson Service Office and a coordinator with American Legion BMI Post 40 in Henderson, Nevada. He volunteers 40-60 hours per week helping veterans and their dependents with filing claims to the Veterans Administration and assisting them with resolving other military related concerns. He spends numerous hours working diligently on organizing the Henderson Service Office into a workable non-profit corporation and raising funds to finance it.

Richard has been involved in the veteran’s service area since October 2015 as a Chapter / Post Service Officer and State Department Service Officer. He is also the Chairman of the Henderson, Nevada Veterans Organization Forum. He served multiple tours in Vietnam and completed 34 years of honorable service to our Nation.

Richard is a frequent speaker at veterans’ organizations and functions in the Las Vegas Valley. Additionally, he is an editorial writer for the Veterans Reporter Newspaper.

JD is the Vice President for the Henderson Service Office at the American Legion BMI Post 40 in Henderson, Nevada. He volunteers eight hours per week helping veterans and their dependents with filing claims for benefits to the Veterans Administration. He has been instrumental in assisting the president of the Henderson Service Office with filing a charter and 501 c3 Domestic Non-profit Corporation for the Henderson Service Office.

JD has been involved in the veteran’s service area since November 2019 as a certified Nevada Veterans Advocate and Disabled American Veterans Service Officer. Additionally, he serves as a director on his Home Owner’s Association Board of Directors at Resort Villas in Henderson, Nevada. He is also a retired and distinguished combat veteran (United States Marine Corp Officer) who served 13 months in Iraq and 12 months in Afghanistan during more than 29 years of active duty and honorable service to our Nation.  

JD is currently completing his second Master’s degree at the University of Southern California. His daughter is a branch manager at Navy Federal Credit Union in Laurel Maryland.

Robert is the Director of Public Affairs Service Officer for the Henderson Service Office and a 1st Vice Commander with American Legion BMI Post 40 in Henderson, Nevada. He volunteers 40-60 hours per week helping veterans and their dependents with Eligibility for VA Health Care and assisting them with coordinating those benefits with their private health insurance program. He’s also able to help veterans with their certificate of eligibility and accessing their VA Home Loan benefits. His background includes over 35 years in the financial services industry including insurance, investments, real estate, mortgages, estate planning, personal finance, and more. He’s taught courses at the college credit level for CSN including Personal Finance, Introduction to Investments, Fundamentals of Investments, and a course personally designed by him called Wall Street Basics. Robert has appeared many times on Channel 8 as a local expert and has made himself available to all veterans who could benefit from a wealth of knowledge he’s accumulated over the past three decades in the financial services industry both professionally and academically.

Robert’s military background includes 4 years active duty in the U.S. Air Force with an AFSC background in the Law Enforcement, K-9 division. After finishing basic training at Lackland AF Base, he continued his training there in the field of Law Enforcement and volunteered for an additional course in leadership training where he competed for and won A red rope, which is the highest level that Tech School student leaders can obtain. After that he continued his training in the K-9 division. After completing his training at Lackland AFB, Robert was stationed at Carswell AFB in Ft Worth, Texas. After that he was sent to Incirlik AFB in Adana, Turkey. During that tour the in 1986 the United States bombed of Libya (April 15, 1986).
