This week’s Monday event, December 16th, at the American Legion Post 40, meeting hall, our Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 1076, 2024 Christmas Dinner. Catered by Johnny Mac’s, Boulder Highway and now Water Street, Henderson. An offer by one of our members to fund the catering cost made this possible. And two weeks of hard work by some amazing people finally set up this Dinner. Kathy Wiek, Rob Wiek, Penny Johnson, Neil Johnson, their daughter Melanie and son Dominique, Michael Berge and my wife, Sunshine Hall, who cooked a turkey last minute because we might not have enough food. It was the hit of the buffet!
Special guests were Anthony Luu and wife, Anthony is President of the ARVN Chapter of Las Vegas, JD McCoy, Vice-President of Henderson Service Office and Phil Webb and wife, Phil works for Palm Mortuary handling mostly Veterans funeral services as well as being on the DAV Honor Guard detail.
One of the highlight of our Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1076 Christmas Dinner was a dessert, custom cake ordered by Lawrence Eastman.
Another highlights was a large donation by Chris Gilmore and Shelly Berkowitz by buying a significant amount of raffle tickets to win almost all the gift cards donated by the businesses on Water Street District off the Christmas Tree.
MIA Table in remembrance of our brothers still missing and the plaque explaining the meaning of each item represented. Table set up by Neil Neil C. Johnson, President Chapter 1076, DAV Commander Honor Guard, State Council Delagate and Secretary.
It was a definitely a wonderful evening with lots of raffle prizes, majority of them thanks to Kathy and Rob Wiek.
